The more I studied Greek, the more I became interested in the manuscripts that preserve the New Testament for us, and in the science of textual criti- cism, which can supposedly help us reconstruct what the original words of the New Testament were.

mmisquoting The first assumption is that the transmission is more or less linear—one person passing the message on to a second who gives it to a third, etc. This mixquoting the shift in my own thinking that I ended up making, and to which I am now fully committed. Testimony comes to us from ancient writers themselves. I soon became envious of this ability to quote scrip- ture and got involved with Bible studies myself, learning some texts, understanding their relevance, and even memorizing the key verses.
