Through very intricate, yet unassuming drawings Grimly creates frankenstekn new face for the tale, while telling the same old story. They grew up together as a contented family, but unfortunately, Elizabeth caught the scarlet fever.

Gris Grimly’s Frankenstein Book Review

Grimly’s graphic novel received praise for it’s ability to blend Shelley’s text into a truly unique creation. Aug 05, Jenny rated it really liked it. Grimly uses the frabkenstein text of the novel the version, which differs in several ways from the more widely-read version to accompany his illustrations, though he does not use all the words.

The Creatures side of the story is very much rooted in the impact his abandonment has on him. The creature kills, Frankenstein is upset, and ultimately Frankenstein and his creation are doomed in an icy wasteland.

Drawing Rock ‘N’ Roll And Sympathy Into Frankenstein’s World

I have many trepidations regarding this book, but they all have to do with pure personal taste. That’s what grips you: I love the progression of Frankenstein’s appearance throughout the book; you kind of forget fankenstein actually the time period is years, but the images helped me to remember the continuation.


Many, if not all, of the subtleties of feeling for the monster are gone.

Although there’s plenty of violence including strangulations, an unjust execution, and murder by arsonmuch of it happens “offstage,” and any depicted gis is undercut by the cartoonish nature of the accompanying illustrations. He somehow managed to make Frankenstein’s monster horrifying and, when appropriate, endearing.

I think this adaptation does a nice job of engaging more modern sympathies for a classic novel that shows its age, which lamentably can alienate readers before they invest enough time to really understand how wonderful it is.

Ggis not immediately shocked and turned off by freaky illustrations, dark stuff, some gore, surrealist illustration, etc. DNF at Page Victor starts as an avid, enthusiastic young man desperate to make his mark on the world, much like any other young man.

I have a hard time reading cursive sometimes, so it was a bit of a struggle to read the letters. Overall I can not say enough how in love with this book I am and I’m really upset that I borrowed a friend’s copy.

From the moment I saw this book I knew I needed to own it.

Victor eventually put the pieces of frankenstfin puzzle together and accused the monster he had invented to be the murderer of William. I’m not typically a person to enjoy a dramatic love story, but Frankenstein is a pretty cynical dude so I’ll make an exception because of him as a character. The drawings were sensational and were grisly, Macabre, and gothic, but breath taking all at the same time.

This is why I usually have a lot of trouble reading classics, however this book still allowed me to understand and feel for the people in grrimly story, despite the style of writing.

I’ve always found classics hard to get through because the language is so long-winded; the poetic nature usually seems to me to just be there, rather than have an actual purpose to the story. Perhaps the biggest marker of a great adaptation is how well the spirit of the story is captured and re-presented to the audience.
